Kenny is not only a Bay Area favorite but now does regular return visits to Jazz at Lncoln Center New York with ” heavy hitters ” Joe Locke, Geoff Keezer, George Mraz & Clarence Penn. Marcos continues as a number one go to guy for Braziliam music both as a world-wide player and educator at the Jazz School in Berkeley.

Eddie Pasternak presents his trio with award winning Brazilian pianist – Marcos Silva, backing Grammy nominated violinist – Jeremy Cohen on Apr.30th and backing the Bay Area’s best jazz vocalist – Kenny Washington on May.7th at Horizons Restaurant, Sausalito.

As a regular feature during Eddie’s 5 month stay at Yoshi’s San Francisco. Marcos Silva continues to tear it up with the trio at Horizon’s Sausalito where another great Brazilian pianist sergio mendes had graced the stage. “Always great to have Marcos as part of the band.” Ivan Lins used Marcos when he recently recorded Jobim’s Dindi and guitar great Chico Pinheiro uses him whenever he comes here from Sao Paulo. We’re Honored. But that’s not all – Eddie & Marcos will be at Horizon’s with virtuoso violinist – Jeremy Cohen. Jeremy’s group Quartet San Francisco has been up for numerous Grammy Awards in addition to being International Tango Competition winners. Jeremy is a crossover specialist bringing his classical virtuosity to jazz, tango, pop and gypsy swing.

Spring sailing, fabulous views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz, followed by the Raccoon Straits Jazz. The band, led by Ron Sfarzo on piano, Eddie Pasternak – guitar, Tom Duckworth – drums and Al Obidinski on bass, produced many smiles and showed off the added violin virtuosity of Carlos Reyes for a glorious afternoon.

The Chronicle’s pick for the weekend in October 2009 heralded what became a 5 month stay for Eddie’s Trio at Yoshi’s San Francisco….. Andrew Gilbert wrote : ” While the club features an international roster of artists, the lounge showcases some of the region’s most eloquent improvisers – led by veteran guitarist Eddie Pasternak, an economically swinging player with an affinity for the Brazilian songbook. He’s joined by flute & vibraphone expert Roger Glenn and a regular rotation of extroverted piano talent, including Marcos Silva, Larry Dunlap and David K. Marthews.”

Eddie Pasternak, Scott Steed, and Mary Fettig are joined by special guest Stan Getz at a birthday party.

I think it was 1988– never realized the video was done until 2 yrs. back when a family member from the party mentioned a Beta-tape of the evening.. Stan had also signed a very nice note which unfortunately was lost in the Oakland Hill’s fire…As a corny little extra…I played for 4yrs with drummer Dave Black one of the best ever.. Dave sent me a birthday card which was signed : “If you can Stan Getz you can Stan me.”…I know — corny as heck but I’ve loved the line and used it ever since..

..the party was for Bob Brown–realtor in Los Gatos…two months earlier I had met Stan at a Hillsborough party where I was playing solo guitar..he came up from behind, as I was head down, looking at my tuner..he said “do you play requests?”..my head head still at the tuner i replied if i knew the tune i’d play it..he adamantly replied “WRONG ANSWER!!”..I looked up doing a double take and said “you’re not who i think you are are you?” then..with a look out of a Bela Lagossi movie he said “Iii AMm!”..ha, ha ..scared me..then proceeds to sit right in front of me during an entire dinner..at the end –most kindly, he said he wished he had his horn ’cause he liked all the tunes i’d selected..it was all pretty intimidating for i had only played a very few solo gigs at that point…Eddie
